The Cornell Ornithology lab has a charming and educational guide to 51 common bird species, including photos, ID tips, sounds, video, and lots more natural history. That chap there is a Spotted Towhee. He lives in the Western United States in open, shrubby habitat with thick undergrowth. His song is fairly simple — “a drier faster take on the Eastern Towhee’s drink-your-tea song that often omits the middle section,” Cornell says.
